MAC... finally!

Okay, so I wanted the Lightscapade MSF, and a few other things from MAC recently. I had to order that damn MSF THREE times to finally get it!!
I don't know what was going on but I did curse them a few times.

I'll put a picture of all I got as soon as I get my camera back.

I  bought a Dish It Up back-up, two blushes from the Tres Cheek collection, MSF Lightscapade, and Whisper of Gilt from the Reel Sexy, a lip prep+prime, Just Wonderful lip pencil and Real Posh lipglass. The last time I ordered the MSF I added a 6x blush palette, because I've been considering buying one for some time and the total meant not paying the post and package costs so... yeah, mathematically it's stupid ^^

Newcomers from the last two months...

- New foundation : Bobbi Brown Moisture Rich SPF15. I like it very much, it's lightweight, has a medium coverage, the right color for me these days :)

- Lipsticks a-gogo : Nars Pure Matte in Valparaiso in February : Worn it a lot, love it! Good thing it's permanent now, or I'd already have bought a back-up.

MAC's Dish It Up (I love it so much I just bought a back-up), Sweetie (and one for my mom), Creme de la Femme, Zen Rose, Snob, Lovelorn. Those last two I'm not wearing much at the moment because I'm more into brights but it'll come.

Revlon 457 Wild Orchid : I am lemming after MAC Show Orchid which is a Pro shade only, so I got this one instead. Maybe during my vacation if I'm near a Pro Store I'll compare them and decide if I still want it.

Revlon Lip Butter in 25 Peach Parfait : I was looking for something more nude, but since my lips are quite pigmented on their own, and I wanted to try those, and it's quite good but I won't buy another shade.

Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense in 9 : yep, another very bright pink which actually I thought was going to be redundant with my Illamasqua Atomic. But once I got home a quick side by side swatch showed me I had nothing to worry, Atomic's got a lot more red in it. Actually the MUFE and the Revlon Wild Orchid are waaaay closer. Maybe if I mix them I can dupe Show Orchid?

(There's a distinct pattern here : almost all of those are pinks. Some very bright!)

I also bought a few MAC blushes and eyeshadows on Cheapsmells. At my MAC corner or on the website, I bought Dollymix, two lip pencils, in Beet and Vino, and an few refills : Beautiful Iris, Plum Dressing, Nylon, and I don't remember the rest. (Maybe I'll do a MAC collection once.)

I also finally got into jeggings (during my spree) and man am I happy. This is what I should have been wearing for years. I'm never going back. Or maybe, for my beloved fitted flare, if I can ever find a pair that fits me like the dream that are my old ones from Evans.

Watch Out for ....

MAC's Hey Sailor! Collection : particularly the Nautical eyeshadow.

Nars Summer collection : it's getting on the website, ordering possible from April 13th. I'm looking forward to the Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Never Say Never.

Guerlain with Emilio Pucci : looks very nice but I doubt I'll buy anything : I already have a Meteorites compact, a Terracotta, and if I remember correctly the previous editions of that brush were no successes.

Music-wise :
Smash OST due on May 1st. The little serie that boomed has a great timing : i
i can't get that cover i told you about out of my head.

Book-wise :
Looking forward to the new Janet Evanovich :)

Life-wise :
I'm making plan to spend my birthday alone and very far from my family. I need a vacation after the year we got. I'm looking forward to that, you have no idea.

Makeup Addict Problem to solve.

I think one of makeup addicts' first and foremost problems (once money's been figured out, I mean) is ... STORAGE.

You can do whatever you want, give away, re-sell, put in another room... you never have enough space for your make-up. And worse, there's always the next collections coming out.

Why do you think there's so many make-up storage videos on Youtube?
Because once we've found the solution, we're so proud we wanna share!
Personnaly, I'm still trying.
I bought and put together the Ikea - MALM vanity a few months ago.

Ohhh yeah it's great. But even when I had just organized most of my make-up in it, I was still short on space. Aaaand I'm still looking. I think I'm going to cave and buy a 2 sets of MUJI drawers.
I also haven't found quite the right mirror yet. And the amount of daylight in my appartment sucks, so there's that...

Anyway, it's an ongoing battle we have with ourselves, our money, the space we live in, home decor and the cosmetics companies.

Listening To

New Kids On The Block - Summertime. My inner teenqger resurfaced this week, so... You can also add any corny romantic comedies to the list, with their soundtrack of course, lol.

NBC Smash - Katharine McPhee covering Brighter Than The Sun from Colbie Caillat. There's an OST due on May 1st with that song on it, I'm so purchasing that title on iTunes.

Kanye West & Jay-Z - Otis

Luce - Good Day

Long Beach Dub - Sunny Hours. With the Black Eyed Peas. That song's been on my iPod for years.

The Stereophonics - More Life in a Tramp's Vest

And we are HOME!

We got home safely on Tuesday, but I've been way too busy with getting her back in her stuff.

I'm staying with her for a few weeks, she wants the company, I'm free since I dropped out of college a few weeks back (yep, I ain't talking about that any further).

The Tres Cheek collection finally appeared onto the MAC website, I ordered myself Pink Tea and Lovecloud, a CCB in Pearl for highlights, the MSF in Lightscapade from the Reel Sexy collection and the Whisper of Gilt MSF from the In Extra Dimension collection.
I thought about getting one of the Extra Dimension eyeshadows but the swatches didn't convince me, and there's one that's got my name tattooed on it in the Hey, Sailor collection.

I also ordered the last clothes I need for the season and a few other thingies from a uk site : mixing palette, empty pans, magnetic dots....

Shoot me!

I bumped into a car on the hospital parking lot.
Well, I scratched it actually, though it was just paint.

I was driving my mom's car, which literally is a tank, and got NOTHING.

Left my phone number. Waiting now.

The stress level was incomfortably high. It brought me all back to my car accident a few years back, and it's horrifying, though the two events have nothing in common. I imagine I'm due for some nightmares again in the coming nights...

Hospital Break

Okay, my mum's getting out on tuesday and it's great, because :

- I'm tired of the time it's taking me to go see her since they cut off the tram. 1h30 instead of 20min is NOT making me happy. And that's only one way.

- She's being depressed, and I ain't happy either.

- I've been stress shopping, mainly cosmetics, it's killing my savings and I'm running out of space! Not to mention I already have enough for three lives in a family with five sisters.
Sephora and my Mac corner are starting to look waaay too familiar.
Maybe I'll do a little haul or a list of my buys. Lucky I'm not on Youtube, I'd have enough for a 2-hours-long video.

Crisis averted... For now!

I never understood my skin. Neither did my dermatologist.
So I'm doing what I can and usually, since she knows I try, she's good to me.

But these days.... I have breakouts, dry patches, she's not happy with any moisturizer I put on and damn her since she's only tolerating tap water.

But now.... My foundation is the MAC Pro Longwear in NC15. It has been for the past 9 months. And NOW, she decides to change undertones? Is it even possible?
It's got to be, because all of a sudden I look YELLOW with my NC15 on.
Since I don't have a MAC pro store near me to try the Face & Body, I literally went sprinting to Sephora, where for a change I got a good MUA to help me find a new foundation.

Bobbi Brown Moisture Rich SPF15 liquid foundation in 0-Porcelain.

It's relatively neutral with just a hint of pink. Pink?? Since when do I need pink in my fondation?!

Wardrobe crisis.

Okay so it's been 20°C for about a week now, and it's started to be a problem for me.

Last year I had a surgical procedure to remove some of my stomach to lose weight.
Some will say it was the easy route, and I totally agree. The problem was, I'd been having health problems for around ten years now and in 2010 my quality of life had been seriously downgraded due to ovaries problems. An exploratory surgery later, there was nothing to do. But my doctor, well aware that I was in the process of,getting that stomach surgery said that the loss of weight could be a great step in retrieving a normal life. So he pushed a bit with the surgeon, and tadaaa! In February 2011 I was on the slab.
I lost 20 kilos in the 6 following weeks, and then...my great-aunt died. To some we seemed a close-knit family because there's not many of us, but the relationships are not that good. Somedays they're even shitty. But anyway, my aunt died, of cancer, and I was there with my mum and my grandma, and I swear it was one of the worst moments of my life.
Consequently, my weightloss stopped dead in its track and my morale was not that great.

I then proceeded to explain to my psychiatrist (and probably anyone who'd listen, sorry people) every twist and turn we had to make to get everything in order.

I vaguely started losing weight once I was back to my flat in September!

Since last year I had been in packing tape and boxes, I did not go shopping for new clothes. I did not need them to roll around in the dust of a big house full of junk.

So. Last week, when it hit the 20s, I discovered I had literally NOTHING that fit.
So this week end I went on a shopping spree. I hate clothes shopping, but I had to.
I tried on clothes like a machine, I spent a fortune, and at the end of the weekend I was ready to cry, my bank account was looking sick, and my room was full of clothes that I had nowhere to put since I hadn't cleared out the old ones. Yay!!

That crisis is never-ending...

Hospital, how I missed thee...NOT!

Okay so my mum is going to the hospital for a few weeks from Sunday onwards, for a knee replacement.
I don't know how much I'll blog between the hospital stints to keep her company and the tidying of my flat.

My hairdresser is a miracle worker.

Like usual. It's all I'm going to say.

I came in without any clue about what i wanted except a lighter color and chopping off those horrifying edges, so damaged by the curls I had put in three months ago.

I got outta there 90 min later, lighter in color and in hair mass, not much poorer, and absolutelu loving it.

Like usual.
I'm telling you she's Mary Poppins with scissors asnd a hair. Rush!

Waiting for...

Illamasqua New collection for Spring and Summer

Nars Spring collection : the Valparaiso Pure Matte lipstick will be mine!

MAC Tres Cheek : those L.E blushes with a satin finish are going to be a downfall for some!

Shop MAC Cook Mac : seeing the visuals, I'll say I'll probably own a good chunk of it before it's off the shelves!

What else is will be worth emptying the bank accounts?

Let's start...

...with beauty!

I'm quite addicted to lipsticks, I'm having an out-of-control collection of brushes, and let's not even talk eyeshadows since I've discovered M.A.C Cosmetics...

I'm a relatively low-maintenance girl though, I'm without makeup most of the time.
My hair has its own will and I quite respect it though I experimented with colors those last few years, but kept them short in length since it's the best look.  I'm not back to my not-so-great dirty dark blonde, so I'm having highlights put in regularly to keep it nice.

I wear glasses, which means i can pull off a look with both packed eyes and bold lips with almost no problem :)

A few of my favorite brands are :
- M.A.C Cosmetics,
- NARS Cosmetics,
- Illamasqua (oooh their lipsticks...)
- Chanel and Dior have a few amazing lipsticks too :)
- Givenchy,
-...

Regarding brushes, Royal & Langnickel and Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman (from Pixiwoo) are my most loved. And MAC 239 of course.

That's quite a beginning already!

Who Am I?

I'm a mid-20s girl from France. I write in english because it's the language I'm most confortable with, weirdly. I started to learn when I was 4 and by 9 i was quite fluent, and by 15 I was bi-lingual. After living a few months in Canada in 2008, I never really got back my total ease with French.

I love cooking & eating, books & music, TV series & watching sports, beauty & sleep.
I've traveled quite a lot already and loved it.
My land of adoption is definitely Canada, though i love Greece and the Islands (Rhodos, Creta, Santorini), Italy and its cuisine, Germany and its tidiness, Switzerland and its diversity, Egypt and its mysteries, Morocco and its traditions...

Since there's going to bit a fair bit of beauty posts I think, I may as well explained a detail : I got into beauty and makeup quite late, only around a year and a half ago.
While I was putting on makeup when in high-school, I was happy with what I had, never interested in the new collections or and whatnot.

Let's see how it all turns out, shall we?
